Our regular readers and family will remember that back in November Mary and I purchased four little yellowish white peeps from the local livestock store in Charapotó to raise inside under heat lamps so that they would be ready to go outside when their custom-made chicken coop was completed and delivered.  Here in Ecuador you are not assured if the peeps you have purchased are embra o macho (female or male), so we figured that we probably had two of each.  We really wanted four or five females, so a few days later we decided to hedge our bet and got four more cute little peeps and asked the attendant to assist us in getting females.  He seemed competent and assured us that the four new peeps were females.  So we went home figuring we would wind up with five or six females and have plenty of egg layers to fill our little coop.
