Today marks exactly one year since Mary and I arrived in Ecuador!

We spent a few days in Quito being tourists before driving down to San Clemente and arrived here just before Christmas.  We were not a part of the community then and did not witness the way the town worked to prepare for Christmas.  We did walk around downtown and saw the large light tree and nativity scene on the street in the main block of town.  It was beautiful in its’ simplicity and helped set a festive and religious tone for our Christmas 2011.

Last year the nativity and tree looked like this.
