Those who follow our blog regularly know that last January we planted a small fig tree (called Higo in Spanish).  That little tree was little more than two small sticks about one half-inch in diameter about three feet tall with no branches or leaves.  Within four months those small sticks had grown to over twelve feet tall with branches spreading out so far they blocked the passageway to our back yard and extended into our chicken coop!

Our friend Leon helped us trim and support the tree to a manageable size and shape, but last year we really did not get much in the way of fig fruit from that tree.  This year we kept the tree trimmed and saw many baby figs growing all along the new growth limbs.
