Time Out For Cooking – Chefs: Emily, Caleb, and Rachel
October 15, 2013 by johnandmarylivingitupinecuador
We recently received this email from our Californian grandkids:
“Grandma and Grandpa.
We just entered a big contest with Uncle Ben’s Rice. They asked students Kindergarten through 8th grade to made videos of themselves cooking a recipe with Uncle Ben’s Rice. We worked really hard on the videos since the three winner’s can win quite a bit of money. If one of us wins, we’re going to split the money with each other and save it for college. We need votes to help us win. We thought about how you guys have your big blog that everyone reads and wondered if you’d put a post on your blog about voting for our videos. Here’s what we just posted on Facebook.
Hey everyone. This is Emily, Caleb and Rachel. We entered the Uncle Ben’s Beginner’s Contest by making a video of each of us cooking. You can check out our videos at bensbeginnerscontest.com and searching the word “coastal“. Our three videos will show up below. We need as many votes as we can to help our school earn $ and we could earn some college $ too. Click the vote button on all our videos if you can. Voting starts today and you can vote everyday until October 27th. We’re trying to get tricky and figured out that you can vote from all the computers in your house, your iphone and ipads too. We figured out if we did this everyday just from our house we’d get 7 votes a day times the 19 days voting is open. That’s 133 votes just from us. My mom says everyone else won’t be so crazy about voting as we are but any votes are awesome!”
We were very impressed with the quality of these videos and the creativity our little ones showed in this competition. I know we are sounding like grandparents. But, What-the-heck, we are! Want to see some pictures of our grandkids?!?
Emily is 11 years old.
Caleb is 9 years old.
And Rachel is 7 years old.
The last picture shows little Jack as well! Missy and Brian are the proud parents. (Brian – I think that is the finest picture of you I have ever seen!)
If you have the time, please watch the videos. Remember to type in “coastal” in the search box and in the finest Chicago area political tradition – VOTE EARLY AND VOTE OFTEN!
Thanks from Ecuador!
