We’ve been taking extra time out for art this past week. It can become quite addictive. John and I have been finishing up our (joint effort with Lisa) painting, which we’ll share with you this weekend. I did finish one of the pieces of my “stained glass” series, Butterflies. This will be going to one of our grandchildren when we visit the US next year.
Check out Lisa’s blog for more art. http://playamart.wordpress.com/2013/07/24/timeout-for-art-a-species-of-writing/
Retirement life is good in Ecuador!
Mary! it’s bright and happy and colorufl and strong and — I love it!!! Buen trabajo for you! You mentioned ‘washes’ this morning. Yes, a wash can be tricky, but many times a second wash will make a huge difference in giving a uniform look. Painting on the floor always requires a second and sometimes third wash before the streaks wean into a uniform look. A second wash, however, would darken a middle value, which might lessen the contrast between your background and the design. I like – um, love this! You and John are amazing! Great work!

thanks Lisa 🙂 I wasn’t planning putting a wash on this, was mainly curious. I was thinking of using it on rocks or finished driftwood before I apply the varnish. Is there a special formula to use? Finishing our project today and John’s getting ready to drill a bunch of driftwood. My honey do list for him also includes base coats on the wood, sketching an octopus on a rock and sketching a ceibo on a prepped canvas. busy , busy.. by that time it should be low tide and we’ll head to the beach..have a great day !
