I remember a time when I was living in Minnesota a fellow Agent said that he hoped he would be transferred to a place where palm trees grew. His thinking was that anyplace a palm tree could grow must not get too cold. I told him that I would be happy just to be transferred to a place where the bank thermometers did not need to have a plus or minus sign! Now Mary and I live in a place where people think it is cold if the overnight low gets to the low sixties and palm trees grow all around our patio door.
You would think that we have nothing to complain about and, for the most part, that is correct…But, lately one of our palm trees has created some concerns. We have reason to believe that this harmless looking palm tree is really from an alien culture:
Harmless? I think not. Look more closely:
Turns out the impersonator is not even a palm tree! It is actually a cycus plant, (Cycus Revoluta – sometimes called, “Sego Palm”) masquerading as a palm! Hah!…
Here is a picture of another alleged cycus tree with a similar growth sited somewhere in Taiwan just prior to the mysterious disappearance of thirty people:
Do any of you remember the movie, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers?”
I have been watching closely as this “thing” has grown. Even though it has changed its’ form, I still remember, “Little Shop of Horrors” and the havoc that, “plant” wrecked on unwary people who ventured too near:
So, everyday I carefully creep up on this cycus revoluta plant to see if the invaders have popped out.
I heard some rumblings this morning and it seemed to be saying, “I’m Audrey Junior.” What could that possibly mean?
Mary is out checking on the thing right now.
It is shouting, “Feeeeed Me!”
Mary, Look out!…..
