Thank you Jake for giving us the opportunity to share some great aerial photos taken on a flight from Quito to Manta.
First a bit of information … Quito is the capital of Ecuador at 2800 meters (9,350 feet) above sea-level it is the highest capital city in the world. The second largest populated city in Ecuador (Guayaquil being the largest) is situated on the eastern slopes of Pichinche, an active stratovolcano. Quito is the only capital of the world to be directly menaced by an active volcano. It is one of Ecuador’s two main hubs for air traffic, providing both local and international flights.
